The watch order is shorter than the list of titles makes it look.
Watch the 12-episode first season of Chainsaw Man, then Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. The compilation revisits the television story; it is not a missing second season. The announced Assassins Arc is the continuation after the movie.
That is enough to get started. The distinctions below will help you avoid paying for a recap when you meant to watch the next part.
Begin with the television season
The first season introduces Denji, the people around him and the rules of a world shared with devils. For a newcomer, the full episodes are our preferred introduction because they leave room for everyday interactions as well as the larger action scenes.
The official compilation announcement identifies the television run as 12 episodes. Check the listing carefully if a streaming app groups extras or dubbed versions in unusual ways. A differently labelled menu is not necessarily a new season.
You do not need to understand every future arc title before episode one. In fact, looking them up can make a spoiler-free start harder.
The Reze Arc movie moves the story forward
Sony’s official film page describes a continuation in which Denji meets a girl named Reze. This is the next main-story stop after the television season, rather than a retelling of its opening.
For your first viewing, knowing that much is sufficient. Search results for character identities, endings and manga chapters can reveal more than you intended. A watch-order guide should get you to the story without consuming its surprises first.
Check the version offered by the service you use: language, subtitles, region and whether the film is included or requires a separate rental. A listing on one country’s service does not guarantee the same options elsewhere.
So what is the compilation for?
The official announcement says the compilation brings together the TV season and includes newly animated Chainsaw Days material adapted from manga volume-end extras. That gives returning viewers a reason to look at it, but it does not turn it into the next major arc.
If you remember season one well, you can move to Reze Arc. If you watched it a while ago and want a refresher, the compilation is another route back in. If this is your first visit, our recommendation remains the complete season.
Watching both the season and the recap is a choice, not a continuity repair. You have not skipped a hidden season by moving from episode 12 to the movie.
Where does Assassins Arc belong?
The official December 2025 announcement describes Assassins Arc as a sequel to Reze Arc. That establishes its place in the sequence.
It does not, by itself, establish when you can watch it. The accessible text on the official teaser site reviewed for this guide did not supply a release date. Check a fresh official announcement before relying on a countdown or a calendar entry elsewhere.
For tonight’s viewing, you do not need to solve that future schedule. Start with the season, continue with the film and keep the recap optional. There is plenty to watch without turning the order into a puzzle.
